I like the pattern for this skirt: 8 pieces together and midi length.
Its lining is around 10 cm shorter.
Unusual top fitted well but the neckline was definitely too open. I had to intervene!
The result is almost satisfactory :)
Materials: geometric pattern viscose, beige cut out fabric, beige lining, zipper, snap fastener.
I like colours between.
Between green and yellow in this case.
Simple and quick to make: few pleats, elastic, voilà !
Materials: light jersey (lemongrass colour palette :), elastic.
So here is the dress I made some time ago and after one use I decided to get two garments out of it.
I wanted to let down the top part and remake a skirt to a pencil one.
For the top I used a thin cotton whith cute small pattern, which I found in my mum's fabics' pile. It's an old, old thing which I remember from my childhood :)
For the first time I sewed an exposed zipper. I am really satisfied with that. By and large, I tried hard to focus on precise and neat finish.
Materials: white cotton, small print cotton, black buttons | grey blend (silk, cotton, viscose), grey lining, cotton band, metal zipper, snap fastener.

I got this fabric accidentally and had no idea what to do with it. It's great for interior if someone likes baroque richness (I'm not the one). And lately I was enlightened! I wanted so much to have a skirt out of this gold jacquard!! While doing the skirt I was thinking that the dress would be even better but maybe next time!
(because of the weather and the camera you don't really see the sparkling quality of this fabric..)
Materials: gold and red jaquard, lining, zipper, button.

A nude lace and similar lining altough I was checking different ones.. I wanted to have a pencil skirt. I made it and then cut it a bit more :) I finished the bottom with the bias tape and I really like the outcome.
There was more manual work this time - sewing machine was almost off...
Materials: nude lace, nude lining, invisible zip, nude bias tape, pink band.

I am into graphic patterns and I am into mustard colour.
A stripy viscose was a pair of loose trousers in its previous life (a flea market buy).
A mustard fabric was really small one, bought some time ago on a flea market. I wanted to make a short skirt with big pockets. But then I started to work on it and realised it wasn't enough for a skirt... But my determination was bigger than such a tiny detail :) So a black stripe was my solution. In my opinion, a great solution. (pattern for skirt - longer one with pockets - you can find in Burda 11/2012#125)
Materials: stripy viscose, beige bias tape (different colour for the pocket), mustard fabric, black wool, invisible zipper

Two things here. I sewed them some time ago.
Materials: stripy knitted fabric, white lining, elastic.
First one is a very basic and very simple skirt for the summer. I had a short piece of a thin knitted fabric. I planned to sew some top but that would need using some other fabric as well. And then one day I found it a nice working material for a fast skirt! Well, there is really nothing to explain here :) A stripy rectangle with a white lining rectangle put togehter, and an elstaic in the waist. That's all!
Materials: stripy knitted fabric, white lining, elastic.
Second project is the long-sleeve shirt. I wanted to use my red and brown checked fabric. I knew only that it would be an upper garment. Eventually my inspiration was a blouse with front pleats from Burda 10/2011 (#114).
I didn't need cute pleats as the idea was to have more sporty than elegant shirt. I added brown piece of polyester (suede-like) because I didn't have enough cotton for whole garment but I didnd't wanted it to be too boring as well. I made a slit in a front (now I think it could have been a little bit longer). I spent some time on a cuffs with one button as I haven't really made it so far :) And after making this blouse I haven't changed my mind - this is not my favourtite type of garment to do!
Materials: red and brown checked cotton, brown polyster, two buttons .
I'm a little bit upset because I wanted to write more regularly on this blog... I still want to that but why it's not so easy? Last months I haven't sewn anything really. I was tired, sleepy and didn't feel like touching my sewing machine at all. The last time when I felt like that was two years ago when I was pregnant with my son, now the story reapeats itself. Luckilly the worst period is over so now I feel like sewing a lot. I would if I only had time :) But there is always a work to go to and a family to take care of... But suprisingly sometimes such time comes :)
Last month I had two weeks on my own - my husband took our son and went for an unexpected holidays. I sewed during their absence two pairs of shorts, two skirts and two dresses. Meanwhile I also remade my old dress to a top, shortened some trousers and fixed things which needed that. So I think that was good and efficient time! After that I packed myslef, joined my family on holidays and has just returned with a pile of new fabrics!
Today I'm presenting the skirt which my sister ordered. She rarely asks me to sew something for her but when she does, I have to always play with that for a while. They are not complicated projects but e.g. contains of many layers of slippy fabric...
Anyway she sent me a picture of a skirt she liked, she bought fabrics, delivered to me, said how it should differ from original and waited for the result. The picture which was a base for me is the one below:

Most difficult was to make it in good size. I don't have a mannequin (my husband always talks me into buying it but we don't really have a space for that in our tiny flat) and I couldn't count on myself as I have bigger belly now. The lace that she bought was also very elastic but somehow I managed. My sister got it just before my departure, tried it on at home and texted me that it fits. Few days later she sent me a message that people at her work liked it a lot.
Don't you think this is a very safe skirt? I think it shines in the darkness! :)
Materials: elastic green fluoroscent lace, beige lining, invisible zipper, transparent button, cotton band.
And here it is on my personal model who was very tired of posing... I hope next time there will be sun shining :)

I found this skirt in Burda (09/2010) and I badly wanted to sew it. I thought that one of my mother's fabrics which I bought for her would be perfect. The process of sewing became quite long... After making pattern I cut the fabric and left it overhanging the bicycle in my room for some weeks. Meanwhile I sewed some other things. And then I thought that this peculiar decoration of the room was not really nice one... The weather was getting better so that was also good motivating factor :)
I have to say I don't like to sew a chiffon crepe. It always makes me moan and snarl. There is always a lot of playing with this runny fabric. The most important thing is to be patient! But the pattern and colour of the fabric as well the idea of the skirt were convincing enough. The crepe was too transparent so I made a basic simple skirt of a white lining. All in all it wasn't all that bad! Feels really good.
Materials: chiffon crepe, white lining, invisble zipper, white cotton, hook and eye

After few months of absence let's start again!
There are new garments in my closet and finally I had time and oportunity to take pictures of them. So here I am.
For starters let's check the pencil skirt!
I love pencil skirts - this is the style I feel good. They are simple and classy. September issue of Burda from 2010 had a dress on a cover which I fall in love with. But the time passed by and I didn't decide to make it. Lately I needed a simple office skirt and instead of the dress I chose this skirt.
Materials: navy blue blend, navy blue lining, invisible zipper.
