Ok - I thought - it's been a few weeks at least since my last sawing operation.Let's do something again! First whole Saturday I was thinking what to do and what textile to use for this vauge proejct. Finally after midnight when my son fall asleep and I made a decision I started sewing.
I chose the dress which I didn't like too much when I saw it for the first time in Burda (07/2011). I used one of my latest purchase: brown flannel. I have to say it was a quick job. Next day I almost finished it - only manual finish left (bottom and sleeves). I have to say it just whetted my appetite to sew more!
And according to my plan - the dress was ready to be an outfit for a birthday hero - me!!

This is again my flea market gain. I bought two sheets of this mint fabric which is heavier than chiffon but lighter than tulle. I believe they were curtains in their previous life. But I don't care - nice fabric is nice no matter what an intended use is or was. It was last summer when I bought it.
June this year I was invited for a wedding. And that was my idea for a dress. I had some undefined vision of what I would like to have. I looked for an inspiration and finally decided to make something simple. I used two layers of the fabric plus the white lining.
And I love the result! I 'm planning to double this dress and sew one of a black lace and a cotton.

I thought I would make some skirt out of this grey piece of jaquard. I couldn't decide what kind of skirt it would be. Accidentally I found a dress in Burda (05/2010) which initially hadn't caught my eye because of the shape. I am a fan of pencil dresses and avoid flared skirts. Don't know why I decided to try it out. Then I started to worry whether I will have fabric enough for a dress but after all I was positively surprised.
It was quite easy to make. I have to say I love such an user-friendly fabrics :) Not too stiff, not too runny, looking good, feeling good. Perfect.

I found this skirt in Burda (09/2010) and I badly wanted to sew it. I thought that one of my mother's fabrics which I bought for her would be perfect. The process of sewing became quite long... After making pattern I cut the fabric and left it overhanging the bicycle in my room for some weeks. Meanwhile I sewed some other things. And then I thought that this peculiar decoration of the room was not really nice one... The weather was getting better so that was also good motivating factor :)
I have to say I don't like to sew a chiffon crepe. It always makes me moan and snarl. There is always a lot of playing with this runny fabric. The most important thing is to be patient! But the pattern and colour of the fabric as well the idea of the skirt were convincing enough.The crepe was too transparent so I made a basic simple skirt of a white lining. All in all it wasn't all that bad! Feels really good.

After few months of absence let's start again!
There are new garments in my closet and finally I had time and oportunity to take pictures of them. So here I am.
For starters let's check the pencil skirt!
I love pencil skirts - this is the style I feel good. They are simple and classy. September issue of Burda from 2010 had a dress on a cover which I fall in love with. But the time passed by and I didn't decide to make it. Lately I needed a simple office skirt and instead of the dress I chose this skirt.

This is not my latest dress. I did it 2 years ago. But I love it because it's very simple. Simple dresses need always special fabrics - nice pattern, good quality...
It was very fast process - I did it one morning, before the wedding which I was invited for. I finished it just before ceremony, put it on quickly and went partying.
I haven't worn it in quite a long time. I took it out from the closet and realized that I made progress with my sewing skills. That's good news of course. On the other hand it's a pity to see imperfections in a dress I like so much.

Recycling rules!
First there was a textile. Then came a dress.
Every time I visit my mother I go through her closet with fabrics and old clothes. There is almost always something new - she dosen't have time to sew at all but accidentally finds some boring clothes made of cool fabrics (dog cheap as well). I found there one day a long rose skirt. At first glance it was only ok.  The second time it was interesting. And for the third time it was superb! My mother generously gave the fabric to me. I had some undefined vision of what I want. Later on I found a nice simple dress in Burda issue. I had in mind that it was really not too big piece of the fabric so I wondered whether would be enough for a dress. Well, nothing left after cutting all pieces. Front part is made of two pieces (instead of one), as I missed few centimeters. But the pattern is quite dense and dark so it's not even visible. To make pockets I had to use some black cotton after I run out of the rose fabric. The strings on a back are made of black cotton band.
I like the dress but I have one regret: the back neckline could be smaller. I planned to check it out before cutting but forgot.. Otherwise it's nice in its simplicity.

I bought this stripy cotton few years ago in Finland. I didn't know what to do with it but I liked it a lot. Dark blue-red stripes look really cool but this is also such kind of pattern which from distance makes your eyes tired. Anyway the textile was used finally.
I made a dress with kimono sleeves (found in Burda). The sleeves were a little bit tricky but everything is a matter of practice. I decided to sew inseam pockets instead of patch pockets - I found it really easy technique thanks to Burda step by step manual.
The dress is very comfortable and unexpectedly works out perfectly on a hot summer day!

Materials: cotton, zipper.

The story goes that my mother-in-law got a jacket from her daughter. The jacket was too small for her so I was the next one to be a donee. I told her honestly that the jacket was totally not my thing but I could take it and remade. A deal was done.
After maybe half a year I felt like making my first bag. So that was the time to use the unwanted jacket made of slippery green fake snakeskin leather. I didn't have any metal parts, handles etc. That sort of forced me to make a bag of 'one-piece'. It didn't make the sewing easy but after all I made it.
So voilà: the snake-bag with green lining and small pocket inside, zipper closed.

Materials: fake leather, poliester lining, brown cotton band, internal stiffener, zipper.

I don't know the girls yet. But our meeting is getting closer. Both are almost 3 months old. Both are my wonderful friends' daughters. Zosia and Dorotka.
I decided to sew something for them instead of going to shop and choosing the cutest among cute girlish stuff.
Zosia's dress I copied from the 'Giraf' one which my husband had bought for our child who turned out to be a boy.. It's not the simplest one (but also far from being difficult), has some details that you have to work on but it's worth the time I spent on it.

Dorotka's dress is a piece of cake, done with lightning speed. As I'm not fan of making thing twice, I wanted the second dress to be different so I just cut some pieces and put them together. Then two ladybird-buttons, piece of white band and here we are.
